Day 2: Milano Cortina ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นWinter Olympics volunteering

I was rostered a 2pm start and so had a lie in and had thought perhaps I should stay in and have a rest.  Well, I looked outside at the most magnificent blue bird sky and had my brekky and outside I went.  I decided to walk up to the ski field that sits above the town.  Wow oh wow!  What a view of the Dolomites.

I wished I had time to ski but walked up to a ski cafe for a hot chocolate.  The lady asked if I wanted “Crema”.. sure, why not ๐Ÿ˜‚. So a 50/50 hot choc/Crema was handed out to me.  Perfect views to drink chocolate.

I decided to go for a hike and thought I would just walk beside the ski slope and then spotted some hiking signs.  I wasn't sure if they would be groomed and to my delight, they were!

I headed up the mountain through the forest for the most wonderful, peaceful, tranquil steep hike to the foothills of the Dolomites.  Others out hiking, even a dog! Plus people with their cross country skis powering uphill.  I had to turn back to make my afternoon shift, an invigorating 6.5  start to the day.

Then my shift!  The Skeleton women's heats and then mens heats and finals.  Stationed at the start line, then mid station, then finish line to see the emotions of the athletes.

The shift finale was being able to stand behind the photographers to watch the late night mountain top medal ceremony.

England for the win and Germany silver and bronze  they all did a jump with excitement but I think they could do with some lessons to fancy it up a bit ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

On the bus at 11pm.. truly blessed to be having this experience.
